Keep the Dreams Alive
Darryl Fisher, President of Mission Senior Living, doesn’t stop serving seniors when he leaves the office. Darryl is also the co-founder and President of the Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation. Whenever he can, Darryl travels around the US in his 1942 Boeing Stearman biplane, stopping in small towns and big cities to give rides to military veterans residing in Senior Living communities.
From Darryl Fisher:
Our challenge as we age is to not give up on our Dreams. When I was COO of Sunwest Management, my colleague Joy Wegand came to me with the idea of challenging every community, every month to select a resident and fulfill his or her lifelong dream or desire. Thus Ageless Dreams began. As a company, we embraced the program and began seeing the amazing joy, fulfillment and satisfaction that resulted from it. The really great part was the multiplier effect it had. Not only did the resident have a great time, but it provided satisfaction for all involved – other residents, family and team members.
We later formed the Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation, a non-profit organization established and dedicated to honoring seniors and United States military veterans. The primary focus is on individuals living in long-term care communities. Our mission is to “Give Back To Those Who Have Given.” We provide “Dream Flights” in a Boeing Stearman biplane, the same aircraft used to train many military aviators in the late thirties and early forties. To date, we have made dreams come true for more than 400 seniors.
